Natural Influenza Therapies
Last week I mentioned the toxicity
of the influenza vaccine and this week, I’d like to mention some natural
treatments for the flu as well as some simple ways to prevent it without a
dangerous dose of mercury from a vaccine.
Preventing the flu, or any virus,
begins with a healthy lifestyle including proper diet and light to moderate
exercise. It is important to maintain
the alkaline pH of the blood due to the fact that viruses, bacteria, fungus,
and cancer, to name a few, cannot live in an alkaline environment. The pH of the blood is naturally alkaline at
7.4 to 7.6 and it is important that the blood remains alkaline. A virus in an alkaline environment would be
like a palm tree in Siberia. It may live for a short while but eventually,
it will die. The virus itself is not
what matters, the environment in which it is living is important and if the
environment supports the virus, it will replicate and thrive. An alkaline environment does not support
viruses like influenza and so, the virus can only survive for a short time.
As far as diet goes, it is
important to eat foods which alkalize the body.
Concentrate on fresh or lightly cooked vegetables, especially green,
leafy vegetables like spinach, and cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, and
Brussels sprouts. Balance is key and
some acidic foods like meats and whole grains should also be eaten. You can regularly check your pH with test
strips to discover whether you are eating properly. Light to moderate exercise such as yoga, Tai
Qi, and Qi gong are highly beneficial for loosening the muscle, maintaining the
flow of blood, and releasing toxins.
Herbs
Peppermint is an
anti-spasmodic and expectorant. Peppermint tea will help to expel
the excess mucous associated with colds and flu. Peppermint tea
will also releive tension and stess and will calm any muscle spasms and
muscle aches associated with the flu.
Licorice is excellent for
soothing a sore throat and boosting energy during the flu. Make a
tea to strengthen immunity, soothe the throat, and expel excess mucous.
Add some ginger to boost circulation and warm the body.
Elderberry is an
antiviral herb which has been used for thousands of years to boost the immune
system and to treat the flu. In the
1980’s, it was discovered that elderberry prevents viruses from replicating.
Homeopathic Remedies for Viruses
Oscillococcinum
is one of the most well known homeopathic antiviral remedies which is growing
in popularity as an effective homeopathic remedy for influenza. This remedy is highly effective at stopping
viruses dead in their tracks.
Oscillococcinum is made from an extract of duck livers and hearts which
are rich in nucleic acids, structurally similar to viruses.
