The Healing of Art
Rather than explaining healing as an art, this
article explains art as a healing. Some
suggest using art to express the problem one is experiencing, to draw or paint
a picture of what the disease feels like.
What you focus on expands and focusing on disease will only create more
disease. One must always focus on
healing rather than focus on disease.
Focusing on the problem is sometimes referred to as complaining and, to
heal, gratitude must be felt. One must
focus on what they do have rather than focus on what they do not have. Turn your gaze to the health that is being
experienced, forget about that shoulder pain, for example, and feel grateful for the fact
that you can still move your shoulder.
So, where
does art fit into all of this? Well, I
mentioned how art is now being used to help patients to express their sickness
and there is so much power in the action of writing things down. Writing our goals and dreams on paper
transforms them from thought, which is energy, to the physical world, something
we can see. We are also less likely to
forget what it is that we are working towards and the act of writing gets us
more involved in what we are writing.
Drawing or painting is so much more powerful than simply writing. Draw what you envision healing to be, it adds
more positive emotion and creativity to the healing. If the drawing or painting is particularly
good, you may choose to hang it in your home to serve as a reminder to your
healing: a healing mind trigger to keep
you focused on healing. Use creativity
to express the meaning of healing.
If drawing or painting isn't your thing, choose something else
that you enjoy doing...something that adds fuel to your inner
fire...something that really gets you excited! The whole idea behind
this is to choose something that makes you happy and, most importantly,
something that generates a great deal of positivity. When it comes to
healing, it's vitally important to feel good now, and to maintain a
positive attitude - please DO NOT make the mistake of ignoring and
avoiding the negative feelings, they happen to us all, the key is to
FAMO (Feel, Accept, and Move On) - Do Not get caught-up in the drama
and complain!!!
Well, I strayed a
bit from the point of the article. One of the most important feelings
your...let's call it a Passion because it's more than just a hobby,
should evoke is that of Gratitude or Appreciation. If you like to
paint or draw, you could be grateful for your paints/crayons/pencils,
your paper or whatever your canvas may be, free time in which you are
able to practice your Passion...how about being grateful for your
ability to paint or draw (it does take dexterity), and you could be
grateful for your hands and fingers!! I don't paint, so my perspective
is limited. I enjoy photography, especially nature photography
- that is my Passion. I appreciate having the ability to get outdoors
and practice my passion, my camera, my abilty to hold and operate that
camera and, of course, I deeply appreciate the beauty of our world.
There are just so many things to appreciate and feel grateful for -
when one takes the time to notice every detail, the object to be
appreciated will become clear.
